Mantle Flexibill support
Learn how Fusionmetrics recognizes Mantle Flexibill annual subscription fees in MRR, separates actual usage, and handles renewals and cancellations.
Last updated
Fusionmetrics recognizes supported Mantle Flexibill annual subscription fees collected through Shopify usage charges. It treats these fees as annual subscription revenue for reporting and divides the annual amount by 12 to calculate MRR.
Recognition uses the charge descriptions and subscription lifecycle data imported from Shopify. It happens automatically during a dashboard refresh; no Mantle API connection or separate Flexibill setting is required.
How Flexibill fees contribute to MRR
A recognized $1,200 annual fee contributes $100 MRR while its associated subscription is eligible. The fee is removed from rolling usage MRR so it is counted once.
Actual usage charges, such as overages, remain separate. The Include usage charges option in Product settings → Shopify MRR definition controls those charges. Recognized Flexibill annual fees remain in subscription MRR even when usage charges are excluded.
For an active subscription with a recognized $1,200 annual fee and $60 of actual usage in the trailing 30 days:
| MRR definition | Annual subscription MRR | Usage MRR | Total MRR |
|---|---|---|---|
| Usage included | $100 | $60 | $160 |
| Usage excluded | $100 | $0 | $100 |
The one-time payments option also has no effect on a recognized annual fee. See how Fusionmetrics calculates MRR for the full definition.
Recognition applies to current and historical MRR, MRR movements, revenue churn, and related reporting metrics such as LTV and ARPU. It appears in individual App dashboards and All Apps. It does not rewrite Shopify charges, change gross earnings, or change the revenue definition used for Fusionmetrics billing.
Renewals and subscription lifecycle
A qualifying renewal replaces the previous annual rate instead of adding a second subscription. For example, a renewal from $1,200 to $1,800 changes MRR from $100 to $150 and produces a $50 expansion.
Fusionmetrics follows the associated subscription's imported lifecycle. Cancellation, expiry, decline, freezing, or an App uninstall can stop its MRR contribution. Unfreezing can restore the contribution when the subscription becomes eligible again. Trial subscriptions contribute only once their paid term becomes effective.
A missing renewal charge alone does not create churn. Fusionmetrics retains the last confirmed annual rate while the associated subscription remains eligible, including beyond the described service period. A replacement subscription needs its own qualifying fee; it does not inherit the old subscription's rate.
Supported charge format
The Shopify usage charge description must match this format exactly, including capitalization and spaces:
Subscription charge for period YYYY-MM-DD to YYYY-MM-DD
For example:
Subscription charge for period 2026-09-24 to 2027-09-24
Recognition requires all of the following:
- A full annual period. Dates must be valid, with the end date on the next calendar anniversary, not the day before. February 29 ends on February 28 in the following non-leap year. Service dates are interpreted in UTC.
- A positive USD amount. The charge must contain the annual subscription fee. Keep actual usage and overages in separate charges.
- One active subscription with a $0 base price. Fusionmetrics must be able to associate the fee with exactly one active subscription for the same App and Merchant at the start of the service period. A same-day activation can qualify when it occurs before the fee.
- A distinct charge ID for each fee. Repeated imports of the same charge are deduplicated. Conflicting records for the same ID cannot be recognized.
- No overlapping annual periods on that subscription. Separate charges claiming overlapping coverage are ambiguous and are not recognized as annual fees.
- Eligible billing data. Test charges and excluded Merchants do not contribute to MRR.
Other descriptions, including a FLEXBILL label alone, do not qualify. Monthly periods, prorated fees, negative amounts, and non-USD charges are not supported by this recognition rule. Unrecognized charges retain their ordinary reporting treatment, including the usage setting where applicable.
Migrating away from Mantle
An implementation replacing Mantle Flexibill can use the same supported charge format and subscription structure. Recognition depends on the imported Shopify evidence, so the billing provider's name does not need to appear in the description.
Preserve the real service dates and keep each annual fee separate from actual usage. If the migration creates a replacement subscription, its recurring value needs its own qualifying fee evidence. Do not create duplicate charges just to change reporting.
Check a missing Flexibill subscription
Refresh the App dashboard after new billing activity is available, then compare the expected annual amount divided by 12 with the Merchant's MRR. Check the description, service dates, currency, and associated subscription against the requirements above.
If a fee still appears as usage, contact support with the App name, Merchant's myshopify.com domain, charge ID, charge description, annual amount, and service dates. This lets support check the imported evidence and identify why the fee was not recognized.
